The Jefferson County Planning Commission is looking for two new volunteer commissioners to fill expiring terms.

The four-year positions represent Districts 2 and 3 with terms beginning July 1.

Residents interested in being a candidate for a position can find more information and submit a volunteer application form online at www.co.jefferson.wa.us/1233/Vacancies, or email a copy of the online form to Jefferson County Board of Commissioners, PO Box 1220, Port Townsend, WA 98368.

The Jefferson County Planning Commission typically meets at 5:30 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of each month. Members receive an attendance stipend of $50 per regular meeting.

The Planning Commission assists the Department of Community Development and cooperatively prepares recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners.

Duties of a planning commissioner include reviewing the Comprehensive Plan and other documents; reviewing county development regulations; reviewing geographic subareas and recommending priorities; serving as a resource for coordination among boards, committees, and commissions; and holding public hearings. Commissioners do not review specific project permits.
