Jefferson County Public Health along with the Department of Emergency Management were hosts to an appointment-only mass vaccination clinic Sunday, March 21.

The event was held at the Chimacum School District’s Multi-Purpose Room where 330 doses of the Moderna vaccine were administered.

Working together on the front lines, a total of 98 community members, some retired healthcare professionals, attended the event as volunteers.

“That, to me, is absolutely amazing,” said Keppie Keplinger, DEM’s public information officer.

“It shows what we truly can do in this county to help one another and I love that,” she added.

“This is a very hopeful time,” said Dr. Tom Locke, Health Officer of Jefferson County Public Health, who was in attendance.

“We have been at this for over a year and we went through some really dark times a year ago – not having enough tools to deal with this pandemic, but now we have the tools. The vaccine is the tool.”

“This is a wonderful day,” he added, “where volunteers are coming together and making this a reality. Every person who gets vaccinated is one step closer to bringing the pandemic to an end.”

The next appointment-only vaccination clinic is scheduled for Saturday, March 27.

Based on vaccine allocation, facility availability and other factors, Jefferson County Public Health and the DEM are planning to open more COVID vaccination clinics throughout the community.

Together, they are committed to offering Jefferson County residents multiple opportunities to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.
