Those who missed the in-person nostalgia of the Jefferson County Fair in 2020 will be happy to discover that it’s back for 2021 — in hybrid form.
The fair returns this week with a full slate of online offerings from Friday, Aug. 12 through Sunday,
Aug. 13, plus a full day of in-person activities and entertainment slated for Sunday.
Virtual attendees can expect Facebook updates every half hour or so, with exhibit entries, videos, fair memories, photos, and more.
Fair secretary Laurie Hampton noted that those visiting the fair’s Facebook page (facebook.com/
jeffcofairgrounds) and website, jeffcofairgrounds.com, will help provide data to the Washington State Fair Association and determine funding for fairs to come in Jefferson County.
Friday and Saturday fair events are online only, but come 10:30 a.m. Sunday, a day of free events is planned for fairgoers. There will be a cupcake-decorating contest, live music by Dukes of Dabob (among other musicians), and a jam and jelly contest. Slices of pie alá mode are just $3.
The Cat Building will be open to the public from
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 13 through Aug. 15 for treasure-seeing folks ready to peruse the annual garage sale, held this year in conjunction with the fair. All proceeds go to the fair association.
