Speaking for the elder population, I am thrilled to see the younger generation of leaders continue to step up and run for office. The District 2 County Commissioner’s seat will hopefully be filled with a non-gray hair.
The issues that affect our community and into the future should be led by the generation with skin in the game. Amanda Funaro graduated from Port Townsend High School and has a youngster at Blue Heron School. Amanda is and has been invested in this town and our county. She left the area, as most graduates do, to get her degree, and then returned to the place where she could raise her young child in a safe and nurturing environment.
Thank heavens enough of her generation DID COME BACK, and they created businesses, got involved with the issues that mattered, and are challenging us all to do better and think outside the box.
Amanda’s compassion and heart makes her a powerful relationship builder, uniting factions for common purpose. I want my future, my last 20 years, to be in her hands — heart and hands that I trust.
