It takes a long time to grow a mature tree | Letter to the editor

I am writing in regards to the article about removing the poplar tree corridor along Sims Way and would just like to say that it seems like a very poor decision.

In this era of heat waves, drought, and record-setting summers, it seems like cutting
130 mature trees is really out of context with these new realities.

The presence of these trees absolutely outweighs their problems, not only visually but environmentally, offering shade in these times of great change.

The problems could be solved by trimming or thinning. It takes a really long time for trees to grow this big, and in our fast-paced world, it sure is easy to forget this.

Please, have some respect for the citizens of this community and our environment, and leave the trees alone.
