PT Orchestra presents spring concert
Tigran Arakelyan, a finalist in the Port Townsend Orchestra's search for a new artistic director, is to lead the orchestra's spring concert, set for Sunday, April 30. The 2 p.m. concert at the Chimacum High School auditorium is preceded by a talk at 1:15 p.m. The concert is free, and donations are welcome. The school is located at 91 W. Valley Road in Chimacum.
The concert includes selections from Gioachino Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville,” the fourth movement of Johannes Brahms’ Symphony No. 1, “Finlandia” by Jean Sibelius, “Tournament of Temperaments” by Karl Ditters von Dittersdorf and selections from “Porgy and Bess” by George Gershwin.
Community Bowl Project seeks potters
The Community Bowl Project is looking for local potters to help make simple bowls to be sold as a benefit for the Port Townsend Food Bank. Bowls would be made up to the bisque stage. For more information, call Michelle at 379-6528.
Artist Shaw exhibits work at QUUF
Visual artist Susan Gansert Shaw is currently exhibiting a body of work at Quimper Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 2333 San Juan Ave. Shaw lives and creates on the Olympic Peninsula, displaying her watercolor and mixed-media pieces in her studio at Rock Hollow Farm. Shaw’s background includes a BFA from Syracuse University, as well as numerous workshops, awards and solo shows. “But it is a walk on the beach, a hike in the hills or the solitude of my studio that continue to be my inspiration,” Shaw said.
