SSNW names new communications director

Patrick Sullivan has been named director of communications for Security Services Northwest (SSNW).

Sullivan joins SSNW after a 35-year career as a journalist, the past 28 years as an editor, photographer and website director at the Port Townsend & Jefferson County Leader newspaper. He resides in Port Townsend.

“With the upcoming launch of Shepherd Shield, Patrick will be a great addition to the team,” said Joe D’Amico, SSNW president. “We need a professional, well-seasoned media relations expert to help get SSNW to the next level.”

Shepherd Shield is a mobile app that offers personalized security and threat assessments, according to a press release. It is scheduled to debut in August with a specific emphasis on school campus security.

SSNW headquarters is in Gardiner, just off U.S. Highway 101, with operations in Washington, Oregon and Alaska.

Edensaw Woods earns excellence award

Edensaw Woods has been selected for the 2016 Tacoma Small Business Excellence Award in the building supplies classification by the Tacoma Small Business Excellence Award Program.

Winners are determined based on information gathered both internally by the Tacoma Small Business Excellence Award Program and data provided by third parties, according to a press release.

The Tacoma Small Business Excellence Awards recognizes outstanding small businesses that serve the Tacoma area. Its selection committee identifies businesses that its members believe have achieved outstanding marketing success in their local community and business classification.

The committee’s goal is to recognize those companies that have shown the ability to use their best practices and implemented programs to generate competitive advantages and long-term value. The awards are intended for small businesses that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community.
