The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 176 calls for service between Friday, Dec. 10 and Friday, Dec. 17. Below are selected reports.

At 12:46 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10
in Port Hadlock, a woman wanted to report her daughter as missing.

She was last seen on Thanksgiving Day. The sheriff’s office determined the woman had been contacted by a deputy Nov. 27 when she was given a ride to a bus stop near the library.

At 4:19 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11 in Quilcene, dispatchers were notified of a dispute between a man and his grandson over a dog.

The grandson, who had left the animal under his grandfather’s care, could be heard yelling in the background. He said the dog was outside, but was an indoors dog and wanted the animal inside the house.

The dispute was described as verbal, and the caller didn’t feel the argument would escalate.

A deputy offered to take the dog to the shelter but was quickly rebuffed.

The deputy then explained the dispute was not something for law enforcement and that the pair should try to work civilly through their disagreement.

At 1:50 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 12 in Port Hadlock, a possible driver under the influence was reported somewhere on Oak Bay Road.

The caller said two people were in a vehicle that was 15 feet down an embankment, but the caller was not exactly sure of the location.

The wheels on the vehicle were bent, the caller added, and two people had gotten themselves out of the vehicle and one had head injuries.

One of the occupants of the vehicle was airlifted for medical treatment.

An initial breath test had a level of .143 and the driver was arrested for DUI.

The driver later consented to a blood draw.

At 8:55 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12 in Chimacum, a person renting a place on Center Road had been away from the property for a week but heard people might be squatting there. He said he had been moving out but was still paying rent.

The caller’s daughter lives in the area and reported seeing a flashlight in the residence when no one should be there.

A deputy visited the property and checked a house and a mobile home that had been left open, and both looked mostly empty and were described as “abandoned-looking.”

No one was found at the scene.

At 9:47 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12 in Chimacum, a caller reported seeing someone who had been evicted from the property in June. The person was at the caller’s gate and walking up the driveway.

The caller said the previous renter had a history of stealing items from the property.

When a deputy asked additional questions, the caller began ranting about how the sheriff’s office was not doing its job and had allowed these people to continue living on her property and also being at her property.

When asked if she had sought a trespassing order against the intruders, she said, “I’m not doing this. I’m not arguing with you!” and hung up.
