The thought, originally, on doing the takeoff on the classic Grant Wood painting, "American Gothic," was that the man and woman were on opposing sides of the election; he being, perhaps, a bit smug about the results. I think there's something in the current issue of "The Leader" on how pleased local Republicans (currently) are.
