Posted

The Port Townsend Community Center will serve as the site for a juried arts and crafts fair from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 29, and Saturday, Nov. 30.

The 29th annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair promises to display fine quality handmade year-round craftwork from Pacific Northwest artists.

The Port Townsend Community Center is at 620 Tyler St., at Lawrence and Tyler streets in the Uptown district, and the fair is slated to occupy all three floors.

Local student musicians will be performing downstairs in the gym as well.

This show is staged by the Port Townsend Arts Guild, a self-supporting nonprofit arts guild for more than 48 years, which offers arts scholarships to Jefferson County students majoring in the arts.

The artists donate a portion of each sale  to the Jefferson County Food Bank, as they have done for the past 28 years.

In 2018, $3,600 was raised for the local food bank.

The show offers an opportunity to find your favorite Jefferson County artists, as well as artists from  Sequim, Port Angeles, Tacoma, Seattle, Arlington, Shelton and Portland, Oregon.

The selection of arts and crafts typically includes handwoven rugs and clothing, gold and silver jewelry set with semi-precious gems, handmade chain jewelry, leather belts, purses, wallets, photography, sculptural jewelry, turned bowls, Damascus steel kitchen and hunting knives, felted animals, stoneware, porcelain, earthenware pottery, painted pillows, woodwork, carvings, cutting boards, painted silk scarves, felted scarves, hand-knit items from alpaca wool, fleece clothing, baskets made from seaweed, 4-H kitty toys, sweaters, watercolors, vintage-style aprons, children’s clothing, hand-bound leather journals, pine needle baskets, mosaic and fused glass sculptural work, oil paintings, David Michael’s harp music and CD’s, and more.

The Port Townsend Arts Guild, which uses monies raised by booth fees for college scholarships in the arts, has a website at porttownsendartsguild.org.
