There are so many sides to a story. I am glad that The Leader published the owner of the dog’s story on how his beloved dog was injured and fell out of the back of his truck without his realization. I am grateful that someone found his dog and Center Valley rescued and brought his dog back to life after doing medical miracles for him for three weeks.

As an owner of a dog and in the past many cats who have passed away in my life, I know it’s a huge responsibility to take care of any animal. The need for food, medical advice, and safety are just as real as taking care of one of your own loving children. As a former teacher I have realized that many parents and dog owners do not always share this value of responsibility.

It’s sad to know how many dogs are killed in shelters each day due to no one caring about them. We are fortunate to now have a Humane Society who will take an unwanted animal in and try to give him a second chance.

I was deeply disturbed when I first read the story of this dog whose name is Moses. Now I can feel better that hopefully his life will be better now and without any more trauma. Each of us that have a dog or cat knows that heartbreak comes when we have to say good-bye to our furry companions.

So I hope we can learn more compassion as we make our way each day in this community with our dogs, cats and horses and other creatures we embrace.
