The Jefferson County Historical Society will host a special holiday edition of the popular History Happy Hour program at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18.

Presented via the videoconferencing platform Zoom, the event will feature a cast of special guests to talk booze, gingerbread, and holidays of yesteryear.

Award-winning bartenders Sophia Elan and Alexander Moats will kick off the evening with a tutorial on crafting festive beverages (both alcoholic and not).

Next, attendees can follow along as Heron Scott, executive director at the Port Townsend School of Woodworking, leads the audience in building to-scale gingerbread versions of the beloved Rothschild House Museum, complete with sugar-wafer windows.

Lastly, join historical society executive director Shelly Leavens and Rothschild descendant Erika Chester for some fun facts and holiday memories of the iconic house and famous family.

Festive attire, holiday music, and all-around merriment is highly encouraged.

Historical society officials will send registrants the Zoom link, a list of ingredients for the drinks, a pattern for the gingerbread Rothschild House Museum, and a suggested, structurally sound, gingerbread recipe via email.
