Henry “Hank” Krist of Kala Point, Washington passed away on April 11, 2025 at the age of 89.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Hank was raised by a single mother with a helping hand from the bar patrons of the White Oak Lounge which she owned and ran. After high school, Hank attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute before joining the Navy, eventually graduating from Ohio State University with a degree in accounting.
Hank headed west to attend business school, receiving his MBA from UCLA and settling down in Los Angeles where he worked as a credit administrator at Security Pacific National Bank, started a family, and even ran for Congress. Hank and his family next spent four years as expats in Hong Kong, traveling extensively and meeting lifelong friends that they kept up with to this day.
Upon returning to the States, Hank and his family settled in the Pacific Northwest where Hank worked as vice president at Seattle First National Bank, sat on the board of China Trust Bank, and was adopted by a stray cat named Bruce. When he left banking, Hank and his wife opened 4th Avenue Magazines in downtown Seattle.
Hank finally retired to Port Townsend where he actively pursued what he enjoyed most: learning to fly, playing pickleball, collecting vintage sports and military memorabilia, and spending time with friends.
Hank is survived by his son, Josh, and family in Ohio.
