The Port Townsend Golf Course is a gem.

It is something that should be treasured for years and generations to come.

let’s take a look at what the golf course promotes besides exercise, and having a good time with friends and family.

The Port Townsend Golf Course under the direction of Gabriel raises more than $30,000 for charity each year which benefits the kids in Port Townsend.

Here are a few of the charities:

Kiwanis. Their golf tournament raises about $10,000. This money goest to Camp Beausite Northwest, this is a camp in our area for handicapped kids and adults.

Rotary. This is an event that local merchants sponsor and business and individuals donate prizes for the raffle. Kids and adults play. They use the money to support a number of benevolences, such as foster care support, mock trial, Olympic Neighbors, our Rotary exchange students, picture dictionaries for every third-grader in Jefferson County, and international projects such as ending polio, and Rwanda grandmothers.

Jim Caldwell Memorial Tournament. The tournament makes about $3,000 to donate to local charities.

There are several other golf tournament charities throughout the year; those are just a few.

The golf course also does Christmas for Children every year — plus they donate monies to the cause.

Gabe figures he donates another $1,500 to flaks who come in acting for money, etc. for charity.

The golf course has the high school golf team practice at the course and they have their golf meets at the course. The course also closes down a few days a year so the high school cross country team can host their district meets.

Garble also donates the downstairs of the golf building for the Kiwanis Center theater actors to practice fo the big December show.
