A golf course is the one place where children, juniors, high schoolers, young adults, adults, middle aged and senior citizens can all get along and associate with each other.

Where else do you find that? One of the big things in golf is etiquette which everyone practices while learning to play golf. And it is a very historical golf course and should be maintained as a golf course and a golf course only. It is a piece of Port Townsend history. A military plane once made an emergency landing in a snowstorm on the 8th fairway illuminated by lights from citizen’s cars.

The better shape the course is in the more players you will get. It also draws tourists. It is not a difficult course to play but it can be very challenging for the better golfers. Both the city and the county should contribute to upgrades and repairs to keep up to standard playability because all the people of the county use the course. A nonprofit may not be the best idea. You want to keep the pro shop and the restaurant because those bring in a lot of money. 

The course is also a great venue for local fundraising event tournaments. It can also become a place to teach turf management and mechanics of machine repair to students.
