Fred Heywood III of Port Townsend, Washington, died in his home on May 31, 2025. His wife, Bonnie Nelle Panneton Orr Heywood predeceased him, dying on November 10, 2015 at Ka Tai Care Center in Port Townsend.

Fred is survived by two sons: William and Grant, and one grandson; Bonnie is survived by four children: Amy, Tim, Joe and Tom, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Fred was born August 21, 1945, in Fall River, Massachusetts. He graduated high school in 1963; graduated from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in 1966 as an Ensign USNR with a Degree in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.

He had a 24-year career as a Merchant Marine, from 1966-1990, when he retired to Port Townsend, met and married Bonnie. He worked at her design business in Port Hadlock, Paradise Interiors, from 1990 until its closing in 2002. Fred and Bonnie enjoyed their cats and golf, especially at Discovery Bay (formerly Chevy Chase) Golf Club, near their home in Cape George, Washington.
