Folk rocks the Guildhall in Quilcene

Golden Shoals has hit their stride following a name change in 2020 that reflects an adventurous approach to traditional American music.

Over the past 10 years, Golden Shoals — made up of Amy Alvey and Mark Kilianski — has evolved and grown, drawing inspiration from American folk, country, Americana, indie, and experimental influences. Their music transcends genre boundaries while maintaining a deep appreciation for Old-Time and Bluegrass traditions. With their blend of polished technique and soulful authenticity, Golden Shoals captivates listeners with their simple, honest, and refreshing approach to songwriting.

Joining the lineup is The Lowest Pair, a banjo duo formed by Kendl Winter and Palmer T. Lee. Coming together by chance on the banks of the Mississippi, Winter and Lee embarked on a musical journey that has taken them across North America and the UK. With five albums to their name, The Lowest Pair continues to push creative boundaries, exploring new depths in their songwriting and captivating audiences with their powerful performances. Expect an enchanting blend of poetic storytelling and masterful musicianship from this dynamic duo.

Local party-folk animals Sweater Weather Stringband will open. Best known for their energetic live shows, this event will see them exploring a more subdued sound, with a smaller lineup, pared-down arrangements of their existing repertoire, and lots of exciting new songs.

The concert takes place at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, June 11 at Grey Coast Guildhall in Quilcene. Tickets are available now and can be purchased online through eventbrite.
