Flex service for seniors

The bus service isn’t serving transportation-needy seniors — those of us over 88 who want to get rid of our cars, but cannot walk the quarter mile (or more) to a bus stop. Without being able to get to the library, lagoon, grocery, dentist, banks, restaurants, parks and shops without taxis, our lives become house-bound.

Why can’t Jefferson Transit select a few routes such as Shuttles A and B where the bus will stop for any senior holding up a handicapped card such as we use in our vehicles? They will have many more riders, and the number of cars in town will decrease. That’s a win for all of us, isn’t it?
