First responders have Medal of Honor

Posted

To the men and women who have been called to duty by the Lord.

A mother’s worst nightmare is not being able to be there for her child when they need her. A fear that is so real that you think of it often. The reality that someday there will be a time when that child is in need and you can’t get to them. This is a fear of the heart that is as real as the breath you breathe.

That fear became a reality to me the devastating night of Oct. 1, 2018, at 4:55 p.m. However, because of all of you who have been called to duty by your love, care, compassion and drive to help others, I have peace in my heart for the time I couldn’t get to my daughter, because you could. I know she was treated with the love and care I would have given her myself, and prayers for her were heard. She is my little Angel now and I do miss her dearly.

As first responders, you all have love in your hearts and do a job not many could do. For that, this mother thanks you and bestows upon you the highest medal of honor that can be given. It is not one to be seen or gazed upon by others or one you can physically hold. It is one held in your heart and in the work that you do.

This medal of honor is the only one I can give but is of the highest honor. I give to you all, to hold, The Mother’s Medal of Honor.

Thank you for your service.
