Finnriver hosts dance-party fundraiser for Jefferson County Immigrant Rights Advocates

Posted

Jefferson County Immigrant Rights Advocates and Finnriver will host a benefit dance party Saturday to support the nonprofit organization.

The dance is planned for 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14 at Finnriver. It will showcase the tunes of Dave Egeler’s Kilombo Funk, and all ages are welcome. Admission is a $5 cover, and $1 will be added to normal drink prices to benefit the Jefferson County Immigrant Rights Advocates. Finnriver Kitchen will be serving food from noon to 8 p.m., with wood-fired pizza from noon to 7:30 p.m. via The Dented Buoy.

All collected funds will be used by JCIRA to support legal assistance, English language class, and sponsorship of local asylum seekers, among other efforts. After raising and contributing more than $250,000 to help folks in Jefferson and Clallam countries, the coffers are empty, and the community’s support is needed.

Additionally, JCIRA has collaborated with Finnriver for a re-release of  “Pera de Campesinos,” (Farmworker Pear) a cider homage to the “invisible”  workers behind the act of creating this cider. A $2 donation from the sale of each bottle will go to organizations working for immigrant rights and food justice causes.
