The Port Townsend Marine Science Center will host its fifth annual, 24-hour BioBlitz at Fort Worden State Park this weekend.
The BioBlitz is 10 a.m. Saturday, May 21, to 10 a.m. Sunday, May 22.
The public is welcome to join the fun (at a safe social distance) and help record all living species — including plants, animals, fungi, and everything else — within the boundary of Fort Worden State Park.
Volunteers will be using the iNaturalist app and website as they find, photograph, and identify as many different species as possible in the state park. Helpers can take photos with a smartphone and upload them to the iNaturalist app, or use a camera and upload photos to the iNaturalist website. Naturalists will be helping online with identification of species.
All of the observations made in Fort Worden State Park during the BioBlitz will be automatically added to the iNatualist BioBlitz page.
