A three-car collision outside Sequim on U.S. Highway 101 killed one and injured six others on Saturday afternoon and closed the highway with no detours for several hours.

Juan Porcel, 38, was killed after the 1993 Subaru Impreza in which he was a passenger stopped on the highway to turn left and was struck from behind by Cynthia Blackwell, 70, of Port Townsend.

The Impreza was pushed across the centerline and struck again by an oncoming 2010 Subaru Forester driven by Christoper Walton of Marysville.

Porcel was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt.

The crash occurred at approximately 4 p.m. and U.S. Highway 101 was officially reopened at 6:30 p.m.

Blackwell, as well as the driver of the Impreza, Milton Garrett, 35, have charges related to the crash pending, according to the Washington State Patrol. Drugs and alcohol might have been a factor.

Blackwell, Garrett, the driver of the Forester and his three passengers were treated at Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles and released.

The two Subarus were destroyed while the Buick suffered less damage.
