In loving memory.

Evelyn Rose Cemper of Brinnon, Washington was born to Ludmila Salak and Frank Rolenc on Nov. 9, 1931, in Abie, Nebraska. Evelyn was 90 years old when she passed away after a long battle with Dementia & Alzheimer’s on March 23, 2022, in Port Townsend, Wash.

Evelyn raised two children; a son Roger, and a daughter Cynthia, both of Brinnon. Evelyn was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother,

known to her great-grandsons as GG.

Evelyn is survived by her son, Roger Cemper and daughter-in-law Judy Cemper; her daughter Cynthia Canfield and son-in-law Gary Canfield; her sister Gertrude Bernheisel of Lincoln, Nebraska; her brother, Kenneth Rolenc, of David City, Neb.; her grandson Kirk Cemper and granddaughter-in-law Siobhan; and great-grandsons Declan and Liam of Anna, Texas.

Evelyn married Arthur L. Cemper of David City, Neb. on Nov. 19, 1953. They moved from Nebraska in 1957 when Arthur’s Boeing job moved him from Wichita, Kansas to Renton, Wash.

Evelyn worked as an accountant at Sears, Roebuck Co. for more than 33 years. When Evelyn retired from Sears in 1992, she moved to Brinnon. Evelyn soon joined many organizations and activities in the Brinnon area; Shrimp Fest, Dosey Dux, Brinnon Booster Club, Brinnon Senior Organization, VFW Auxiliary, Brinnon Fire Department women’s auxiliary, Brinnon Community Center, Mad Red Hatters, tutored at the Brinnon School, served on the Jefferson County Election Board.

Evelyn loved being busy. She could be found doing jigsaw puzzles at her home, visiting her children in Brinnon, traveling to visit her grandsons in Texas, or lunching with the Red Hat ladies. As a retired accountant it didn’t take long for her to become the secretary/treasurer of four to five clubs she belonged to and could often be found working on the books. Evelyn was the VFW Citizen of the Year in 2008.

Evelyn was strong in her faith and loved her “Church Family.” She felt right at home at the Brinnon Community Church where she was baptized again in her later years. Evelyn will be missed by many.

A memorial service will be held on April 10, 2022, at the Brinnon Community Church, 52 Church Road, Brinnon, Wash. 98320.

All are welcome to attend the Palm Sunday service at 10 a.m.
