A 62-year-old Elma man was injured Friday afternoon when his 1996 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck hit the trailer of a logging truck that had come loose and went into the oncoming lane of traffic on Highway 101 near Ruby Beach.

The logging truck, a 2006 Kenwood, was heading north on Highway 101 just before 3 p.m. Friday when the driver, a 28-year-old Forks man, entered a curve and his trailer hit bumps in the roadway.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the trailer came off the truck and went into the southbound lane, where it was hit by the driver of the Toyota.

The Elma man was taken by an aid car to Forks Community Hospital for treatment.

The Toyota was totaled and removed from the scene by West End Motors.
