Eisenhour has helped save local businesses | Letter to the editor

I am writing to give my full support to Heidi Eisenhour’s candidacy for District 2 County Commissioner.

I am not a political person, but as I observe Heidi, I believe that she has the best combination of skills, inclination and background to make her a good leader for Jefferson County.

As one who works in the trades myself, I have deep appreciation for what wisdom and experience Heidi could bring to her role as county commissioner.

She grew up on a fishing boat, ran a restaurant, and helped build her husband’s business as a successful craftsman and artist. Her work preserving farms and habitat has helped build our vibrant small farm economy, and her community activism has helped save local businesses (i.e., the Ajax Café) and revitalize our wonderful county library.

Combined with “all of the above” her connection to the maritime trades as COO of the Northwest Maritime Center gives her unique Insight into the complexity and character of our local economy. We know she can manage budgets and people, but more importantly, we know that she can leverage resources and inspire her colleagues and neighbors to dig in and do the hard work.

We are living in an incredibly challenging time: a time that calls on all of us to reimagine how we live, to think outside of the box. And at times like these we need leaders who we trust, and who have track records of building relationships and forging creative coalitions that solve real problems.

Please join me in giving Heidi your full support.
