Eisenhour has a great collaborative spirit | Letter to the editor

These are challenging times. So far, 2020 has brought an unprecedented pandemic; the painful, long-overdue recognition of deep, structural inequality; the reality of our deeply divided electorate; and we experience more acutely the consequences of our inaction on climate change.

Times like this call for strong leadership on every level. That’s why I’m writing in support of Heidi Eisenhour’s candidacy for District 2 County Commissioner. While I don’t know Heidi personally, I’ve been aware of her good work in our community for many years and feel that she possesses a unique combination of practical experience, collaborative skills, and imaginative vision to lead us forward.

From growing up on a fishing boat to leading the fight to preserve local farms and habitat to her current work with the Northwest Maritime Center, Heidi Eisenhour is well grounded in what makes our community unique. Moreover, she’s demonstrated her ability to bring the community together to fight for what we love, such as the county library and the Ajax Café.

Drawing on her community connections, diverse experience, and proven leadership, Heidi has the vision and collaborative spirit to see us through these rough waters. We need a steady hand on the wheel now, and I have faith that Heidi Eisenhour will steer us toward the more resilient community we’ll need to build for whatever lies ahead.
