Eisenhauer connected to community

Heidi Eisenhour is my choice for District 2 county commissioner. I moved next door to Heidi when she was 12 years old and watched her develop from an engaging teen to an extraordinary adult. She grew up in a commercial fishing family working and playing on the ocean and in boatyards.

When Heidi was 26, Commissioner Richard Wojt recruited her to be on the County Planning Commission. As her middle school science teacher, Commissioner Wojt knew what she was made of. During her time on the commission in 1997-98, Heidi went on to help develop the first Comprehensive Plan for Jefferson County.

Leading organizations after 9/11 and through the recession in 2008 requires a visionary mind, which you can see in Heidi’s past leadership roles with the Cascade Partnership and the Jefferson Land Trust. Heidi is currently the chief operations officer for the Northwest Maritime Center with many responsibilities. Because of the current COVID-19 crisis, we know our county will face budget cuts in an unsure economy. Challenges we are already grappling with — affordable housing, food security, livable wages — will only be harder to address now. Heidi has plenty of experience raising money and managing budgets. She is an excellent team player and organizer. She is an energetic, thoughtful, smart and friendly woman ready to take on the tasks of leading through thick and thin.

Heidi has lived in Irondale/Port Hadlock for 40 years. She understands the issues and people in District 2 and our region. With strong ties to the people and the land in Jefferson County, Heidi’s local friends list includes fishermen, farmers, artists, activists, children, retirees, non-profits, volunteers and many business owners. Heidi has the skill set and the heart we need to guide us through the next decade.
