The East Beach Road Fire grew by another 20 acres over the weekend, and firefighters battling the blaze said the forest fire near Lake Crescent in Olympic National Park had already burned 84 acres.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but authorities believe it was human-caused.
The fire was discovered around 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 29 at just north of East Beach Road.
Officials with the Western Washington Type 3 Incident Management Team said Sunday 15 percent of the fire had been contained.
Firefighters were able to make good progress on the fire line Saturday, they said, when the area experienced lower temperatures and emergency responders were able to put in lines on the eastern and western edges of the fire.
The fire is burning on a heavily-timbered slope that descends south to the north shore of Lake Crescent, and the steep and hazardous terrain is making direct attack unsafe for firefighters.
Officials said firefighters will continue to expand on the construction of fire lines to slow the spread of the blaze.
The number of personnel assigned to the fire has grown to 225, and the response includes eight hand crews, six timber fallers, nine fire engines, three helicopters and two water tenders.
Roads in the area continue to be closed.
East Beach Road is closed from Highway 101 to Log Cabin Resort, and access has been restricted to local residents only.
Log Cabin Resort was still open this weekend, with access limited to Highway 112 to Piedmont Road.
Day-use recreation sites along East Beach Road in Olympic National Park have also been closed to the public.
