DJ Johan Dinero hosts a hands-on workshop to learn the tools and skills of DJ-ing with vinyl records, as well as CD and digital media, from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 5 at The Boiler Room, 711 Water St.
“With the advent of the laptop/Spotify/playlist DJ, there has been lack of awareness and proper technique involved in the modern sound selectors programming,” said Dinero, “all while vinyl has undergone a huge upswing in sales and in people's personal collections.
“I will be training people on the equipment classically used to DJ vinyl records for performance and teaching them the basic skill-sets of beat matching, cuing and blending songs to create a DJ mix.”
Those who preregister receive hands-on time with a DJ sound system and personal instruction. The event is by a suggested donation of $15. Preregister by emailing
