Due to a beautiful Indian summer, the golfers of the Discovery Bay Women’s Club were handed a few extra weeks of play before getting ready to hang up the clubs for the late fall and winter months. Eleven ladies teed off the play “Bingo Bango Bongo,” braving the drizzling rain and smokey air for a competitive round on the course.
Luckily enough, the smoke and rain cleared out, making for an exciting matchup. The rules of “Bingo Bango Bongo” allow golfers to score points for getting on the green, landing close to the pin, and putting the ball in the hole, depending on who completes the objective first.
Jane Guiltinan won the contest with 22 points, Barb Aldrich and Wanda Synnestvedt tied for silver with 21 points each, and Cindy Breed earned the bronze on a 20-point performance. As for the weekly putting contest, Jane Peoples and Sherrilyn Ulland tied for first place.
The Discovery Bay ladies will wrap up the golf season Thursday, Oct. 27 with a nine-hole team scramble. The golfers will be raising money for the annual scholarship fund for a Chimacum High School student, with mulligans able to be bought for $5 each during the scramble.
Following the end-of-season event, club members will gather for a luncheon, season awards, and prizes.
Weather permitting, some of the golfers will continue playing through the offseason on Thursdays. The regular golfing season restarts in April 2023. To learn more about the ladies golf club, Discovery Bay Course, or other information, call the golf course at 360-385-0704
