The Discovery Bay Women’s Golf Club set out for another weekly round of golf, this time playing a game called “Disaster.”
Fourteen ladies teed off Thursday, May 26 for Disaster, with the objective of avoiding making poor golf shots, because each “disaster” results in a point against the player.
The lowest point total wins the match. Whiffing the ball, hitting a tree, and hitting your ball into a hazard, out of bounds, or into a bunker will all earn a player a disaster point.
Also, putting more than the regulation two shots on the green will earn another disaster point.
First-place winner, with only three disaster points, was Jane Guiltinan. Lynn Pierle took second place with four points, while Terry Graham had five points and finished in third. Tied for fourth with six points each were Jane Peoples and Cindy Westwood.
The sixth and final place was awarded to Cindy Breed with seven points.
Following the round of Disaster, Torrin Westwood of the Washington Golf Association spoke with club members. Westwood is the assistant director of club relations for the association and shared with the women about how the Washington Golf Association helps clubs to support the game of golf in the Pacific Northwest.
Ladies in the area are invited to join the club and play any Thursday morning, with the tee-off time set at 9 a.m. To learn more, call the golf course’s number at 360-385-0704.
