I know if you are paying attention to the dismantling of our democracy each day that you are to some degree outraged and horrified just as I am feeling. I am watching the gleeful indifference to the loss of life, the joy in smashing people down and destroying careers of committed workers and mis-management of billions of dollars and slashing of funds for programs the DOGE destroyers don’t even understand and then, in some cases, Oops.
This current wrecking crew is terminating contracts, purging staff, tearing down programs, removing offices, stopping research and funding to institutions that save lives. This bunch wants to destroy the whole system that serves health and science which has been a critical engine of our prosperity.
The Social Security Administration is breaking, the IRS is becoming broken, student loans are gone, Education Department is ended, HIV treatments gone, libraries and museums closed, Ebola and Nuclear experts gone, Fire Fighter cancer registry gone. All this and more is broken. Public health involving polio, measles, TB, HIV, starvation, HPV, EMOX is all under attack or gone.
What do we do, people? I hope you join our neighbors in resisting and protesting and let our collective voices be heard. Stay informed and find a way to participate in our democracy before it is gone, too.
