Deborah Jo (Cartmel) Burrelli, formerly of Port Townsend, was killed recently in a tragic, single-vehicle accident in Genesee County, New York, en route from Rochester, New York to a new home in Alabama. Her brother, Thomas Teddy Cartmel, who was driving the vehicle, was also killed in the accident.

Debbie was born Dec. 9, 1954 in Port Townsend, where she graduated from high school in 1973. She was in the sales industry most of her life, primarily as a mortgage refinance specialist. Immediately prior to her death she owned and operated a thrift store in Rochester, New York.

Debbie was preceded in death by her two children, Jennifer Angela Burrelli and Joseph Angelo Burrelli; her father Teddy John Cartmel of Port Townsend; and stepfather John Perkins formerly of Port Townsend. She is survived by her mother, Joann Perkins of Las Vegas; brother Bill Cartmel of Maine; sister Rebecca Drayse of California; sister Susan Cartmel of Port Townsend; and stepmother Judy Cartmel of Port Townsend. A private memorial service will be held in November in Alabama.
