Cut down, replace PT’s trashy trees | Letter to the editor

I find the misguided efforts to save non-native trees like the trashy Lombardy poplar almost humorous.

We live in a part of the world that is dominated by some of the most beautiful trees in existence, like Douglas fir, western red cedar, and even red alder. The Lombardy poplar is considered invasive in some states such as Michigan.

Shouldn’t the first thing people see as they enter our wonderful town some of our native trees and not this undesirable interloper?
