Upcoming performance events have been postponed or canceled outright due to the spike in COVID-19 infections in Jefferson County.
Organizers of the YEA Music! faculty performance planned for Thursday,
Aug. 19 at Fort Worden said Monday the performance was canceled, also on Monday, Trinity United Methodist’s Candlelight Concert set for Thursday, Aug. 26 was changed from an in-person affair to a live-streamed and simulcast concert only.
And last weekend’s performance of Bill Evans “81” at Fort Worden’s Wheeler Theatre was postponed due to the rising spread of COVID-19 on the Olympic Peninsula and concerns expressed by public health officials about indoor gatherings.
Organizers said a new date for the show will be set “as soon as it is clear that the virus has abated enough to have the performance safe for all.”
The performance had originally be scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 14.
“I and the dancers, as well as those who worked on costumes, music and staging, are extremely disappointed, of course; but it would be unwise to continue with our plans at this time. The health and safety of the public and everyone involved is paramount,” Evans said.
“We look forward to presenting this truly wonderful show as soon as it is safe for our community,” Evans added.
Once the date of the new performance is announced, all those who purchased tickets will be invited to transfer their ticket to the new date, or receive a refund.
Those who want to receive a refund immediately can contact info@MadronaMindBody.com or call 360-344-4475.
