Two new cases of the coronavirus have been discovered in Jefferson County over the past two days.
The number of people who have tested positive for COVID-19 in Jefferson County has escalated to 92, officials with Jefferson County Public Health reported Thursday afternoon.
A new case was reported Nov. 4, and another, Nov. 5.
Officials said a woman in her 40s, a mid-county resident, tested positive for coronavirus and the health department was alerted Wednesday.
On Thursday, officials said another mid-county resident had been infected with COVID-19. He is under the age of 20.
County health officials reported that 79 patients in Jefferson County have recovered from COVID-19 and are no longer hospitalized.
No deaths in Jefferson County have been linked to the coronavirus.
According to Jefferson County Public Health, a total of 11,028 patients have been tested for the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, and 10,913 have tested negative.
Test results are still pending for 23 people.
So far, 43 COVID cases have been found in Port Townsend residents; 38 in mid-county residents; and 11 in south county (Quilcene, Brinnon, and West Jefferson).
Most of the confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Jefferson County — 48 through Thursday — have been found in men. Forty-four women who live in the county have tested positive for COVID-19 through Nov. 5.
