COVID-19 cases jump by 40 in JeffCo

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Jefferson County rose by 40 cases between Thursday and Monday, according to Jefferson County Public Health.

A total of 1,469 COVID-19 cases were reported Dec. 27, up from 1,420 on Dec. 23.

The age bracket of 60 to 69 saw the largest increase, with nine new cases.

No new fatalities from the coronavirus were reported Monday. A total of 20 people in Jefferson County have died from COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.

Since Thursday, the total number of county residents hospitalized rose to 82 from 81, while the number of people currently in the hospital due to COVID also changed by one, with just one case reported as of Monday.

The majority of the new coronavirus cases since
Dec. 23 have been in the mid-county area (16 cases) and in Port Townsend (13).

Jefferson County Public Health reported 82 cases of residents in active isolation on Monday.
