COVID-19 cases in JeffCo rise to 54 infections

The number of confirmed infections of COVID-19 grew to 54 Tuesday in Jefferson County, according to the latest update from county public health officials.

That's an increase of two cases from the 52 reported Monday.

Four confirmed tests of coronavirus in Jefferson County have been reported since the weekend, and mark the first COVID-19 cases after two weeks where no new infections were discovered.

So far, a total of 5,100 residents in Jefferson County have been tested, and 4,985 people have tested negative, or 1.1 percent of tests completed.

County officials reported Tuesday that test results are pending from another 61 residents.

According to the latest statistics, 29 of those who have tested positive are female, and 25 are male.

Statewide, there have been 59,370 confirmed cases of COVID-19, according to the state Department of Health.

Total tests number 1,009,486; 5.9 percent of those tested have been confirmed to have the disease.

There have been 1,619 deaths in Washington attributed to the coronavirus.
