The number of COVID-19 cases in Jefferson County has increased by two additional confirmed infections, Dr. Tom Locke, public health officer for Jefferson County, said Monday.
Jefferson County now has 43 cases of the coronavirus.
The two new cases were discovered over the weekend, Locke told county commissioners during a COVID-19 update Monday morning.
"Doing weekend investigations has now become the norm for us," Locke said.
While the state has a standard of conducting a contact investigation within 24 hours, Locke said Jefferson County moves much quicker when a case of COVID-19 has been confirmed, mostly within an hour.
"We have teams ready to go at all times," he said.
