COVID-19 case count continues to climb in Jefferson County

Jefferson County public health officials reported Tuesday that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases climbed to 475 from 467 a week ago.

Eight residents were still in isolation Tuesday due to potential COVID-19 contact.

Five Jefferson County residents are still awaiting coronavirus test results.

There have been 26,375 tests for COVID-19 in Jefferson County since the start of the pandemic, and 25,895 have come back negative.

In Jefferson County, 441 people have recovered from COVID-19 — an increase of two from July 13 — and 34 people have been hospitalized for the disease. Four deaths of Jefferson County residents have been linked to COVID-19.

People are considered "recovered" at 28 days from the onset of symptoms if they are alive and not hospitalized, according to the state Department of Health.
