Kudos again to the P.T. Leader! Your opinion piece presenting two sides on the Indivisible group rally against Trump, Musk, and DOGE was the perfect anecdote to our current media environment filled with social media sensationalists and algorhithm driven information loops. Instead, you did it the “old fashioned” democratic way. Readers get opposing opinions so that they can truly shop the marketplace of ideas.
However, I must say that I felt bad for Gina McMather right from the start. Attacking Indivisible on the basis of the fact that they are receiving money from billionaire George Soros (a valid point) can only come up hollow when your side has done more than take money from billionaires. Republicans have put them in the drivers seat of an experiment in executive branch leadership that aims to not only gut government spending, but also erode democratic norms and free speech. We’re in a situation that must be causing many sleepless nights for Chief Justice John Roberts.
In a world where we (the little people middle class voters) are feeling the daily squeeze from decades of “trickle down economics,” the idea of electing billionaires to put the billionaire class in check makes no sense. Seeing how DOGE is slashing programs with a machete when a scalpel is what is needed only serves to prove the point that billionaires are not our friends. They are the problem. Now is the time we must take our democracy back, or surrender it for generations.
