Every Sunday in July will see a new prerecorded concert available online in lieu of the Concerts in the Barn chamber music series.

Concerts can be viewed online at the traditional time of 2 p.m. Sundays, followed by an encore performance at 8 p.m.

Musicians will emulate the experience of being in the iconic barn as much as possible by including the traditional pre-performance commentary. Other festival coverage throughout the summer will include videos about the festival grounds and interviews with musicians.

Three members of the Carpe Diem String Quartet — Charles Wetherbee, Korine Fujiwara, and Greg Sauer — are returning this year with violinist Elisa Barston to round out the group.

Opening night is July 5 and will pay tribute to composers who immigrated to the United States and found inspiration in their new home.

The following show, on July 13,
will celebrate the 250th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven’s birth with two works from his “middle” and “late” periods of composing.

The third weekend, July 19, will see pieces that are unique to the period in which they were written. And the final performance on July 26 will celebrate Romantic-era composers Franz Schubert and Johannes Brahms.

“We look forward to opening our barn again in future summers,” said Alan Iglitzin, founder and board member of Concerts in the Barn. “Despite the social limitations COVID-19 requires, we hope to bring the essence of the barn experience to all our audience.”
