A woman who broke her leg while hiking in the Olympic National Forest was rescued by a Coast Guard helicopter Saturday night.
The woman, 50, had been hiking near Lake Angeles when she fell. Emergency responders coordinated a multi-agency rescue, and the Coast Guard was called for help by Olympic National Park Service personnel after they contacted the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center for assistance.
An MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter took off from Air Station Port Angeles just before 8:30 p.m. July 25 and the injured hiker was hoisted into the helicopter at
9:03 p.m., according to the Coast Guard.
The helicopter brought the hiker back to the Coast Guard’s station in Port Angeles, where an emergency medical crew was waiting.
