As the coach for the Port Townsend High School cross country team, I write weekly updates for the Leader. I have found this to be a frustrating experience.
Initially, my write-ups were reconstructed and mangled reports rife with misinformation when they were published. In an attempt to have the information published correctly, I asked for them to be run as press releases under my name. Subsequently, no cross country articles were run for two weeks. Although this past week, the article was run under my name, it was unfortunately "edited" to include misinformation and typos prior to its publication. I am frankly embarrassed that my name is on it.
As much as I want coverage for our athletes, it is an almost insurmountable frustration to deal with these hurdles. I have been assured that things are changing at the Leader, and I certainly hope so!
