New hire Chase Stanton is the latest addition to the city of Port Townsend Police Department.
He was sworn in with the oath of office at a city council meeting earlier in June.
Stanton worked in emergency medical services in San Diego, California, and most recently, was working as an assistant ranger in Fort Worden State Park.
“He’s very excited; he’s currently in the field training process, which is close to three months long,” Police Chief Thomas Olson said.
Stanton is Olson’s first officer hire since the chief took the reins in March 2021.
“I think he’s going to be a great addition to the team,” the chief said.
