Citizens, unite Citizens, unite

Trump just released his new budget for 2021, including $750 billion in Medicare cuts and $76 billion out of Social Security Disability (SSD) benefits. Worse yet, the budget cuts more than a trillion from Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).

One of Trump’s biggest campaign promises in 2016 was that unlike other Republicans, he promised never to touch Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid. But then, two weeks ago, Trump told the global elites at the annual World Economic Forum in Davos that he would cut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid if he was re-elected.

And now, still in his first term, he’s actually put forward a budget that cuts these programs by more than $1.5 trillion over the next ten years.

These devastating budget cuts affect every person in every income bracket—seniors, children whose health depends on CHIP, and those of us in the middle who will have to pick up the pieces, or not. Homelessness is bound to increase significantly, as those on SSD and SSDI, let alone seniors with no income but Social Security, already have difficulty with rent and utilities, much less food and medical bills.

I urge everyone with a piece of paper, a pencil, and a stamp to write to at least one of your congresspersons and ask, even beg, them, to do whatever they can to block such a budget from seeing the light of day.  Please join me in speaking up on this critical issue, and vote in November!
