Choral Belles sing for Tots

Posted

The all-female Choral Belles are celebrating 21 years of performing sacred and secular Christmas music for Port Townsend in their annual concert at Trinity United Methodist Church.

Directed by Mary Lou Montgomery, the holiday event is set for 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 15. Proceeds from the concert benefit the area campaign for the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.

Since their first Christmas concert in 1996, 63 different Choral Belles have performed in the holiday concerts. The group today includes two of those original members.

Program highlights include “Ukrainian Bell Carol” by Heyde and Tedesco, and “Sleigh Ride” by Leroy Anderson, both arranged for “one piano with four hands.”

The program is also to include carols such as “A Gospel Christmas,” “Cool Yule,” Pachelbel’s Canon and “Christmas Lullaby,” the last two of which blend voice and flute.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. at the church, 609 Taylor St., located across from the Port Townsend Community Center in Uptown. Admission is by $10 donation; children admitted free. All toys purchased with funds are to be given to children in Jefferson County.

Refreshments are to be served following the performance. For more information, call 774-1644 or email
