The Chimacum tennis team won one and lost one during back-to-back games March 20 and March 21. During the March 20 win, the Cowboys defeated Bremerton 5-2, which included winners of first doubles Renee Woods and Grace Yaley, second doubles Mika Briggs and Olivia Mattern, third doubles Sophia Arnovitz and Jaden Long, forth doubles Tiffany Bell and Cedar Barnes and second singles Madison Hess. “It was a great team effort and a nice win for the team,” said coach David Porter. The Cowboys fell 3-4 to Klahowya on March 21. The winners from that match included first and second doubles and second singles winner was Makaela Caskey. “We were missing two players and were unable to win the third and fourth doubles,” Porter said. “We have been working hard in practice to figure out our final lineup for matches.” The next match for the Chimacum tennis team was scheduled from March 26 (after The Leader’s press time) against North Kitsap. “We have North Kitsap Tuesday who is probably the best team in the league,” Porter said. “We are hoping to compete with them.” The Cowboys will faceoff at 4 p.m March 27 in Kingston and 4 p.m. March 28 in North Mason. “I am optimistic we will do well,” Porter said.
