Chimacum Schools levy supports our students, staff and teachers | Letter to the editor

One of the highlights of my career was being a director on the Chimacum School Board for 16 years. Connecting with the students and making sure their educational environment was conducive to their ability to learn and participate in school activities was the top priority.

It is my pleasure to once again serve the district on the Chimacum Supports Kids levy campaign. It has brought back many memories, but among the most important is the support the community has for this small school district with the big heart.

I ask that the community once again show their support in voting for the levy on Feb. 9.

• This is not an additional tax.

• Supports staff education.

• Supports materials for core subjects.

• Supports technology.

• Supports college-level classes

• Provides enrichment opportunities.

• Chimacum’s music program is primarily funded by the levy.

This is not a comprehensive list but it gives you a snapshot view of how the levy money is spent.

It is my belief that every single student counts. I believe in giving those students every chance and opportunity to learn in a safe learning environment. I believe in my community. Small school district with a big heart — like its community. Vote for the kids Feb. 9.
