Kids, families and the young-at-heart are invited to a Port Ludlow Performing Arts (PLPA) children’s concert, “The Enchanted Tail,” which begins at 3 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 26.
The concert offers a delightful and joyful musical story about a mischievous fox and an enchanted princess, said Peggy Welker, PLPA board member and concert organizer.
“This is our first-ever children’s concert,” Welker said. “We just feel like there’s a lack of really good, high-quality musical opportunities for child on the peninsula.”
If the initial concert is successful, the plan is to make the children’s concert an annual event, Welker said.
The program is presented by singers Victoria Robertson and Bernardo Bermudez, accompanied by pianist Vernon Snyder. They are also to work with the choir at Chimacum schools on Friday, and are presenting another PLPA concert on Saturday evening.
Children are encouraged to participate in the adventure, which includes interactive songs, sing-alongs, jokes and dancing.
“The stage set is going to be fabulous,” Welker said. “It’s a background of a castle, with rocks and stones, branches and vines on the stage.”
Mats are to be laid out on the floor, so that children attending can sit close to the stage.
“At the end, there will be free juice and cookies for the kids, and photo ops with the princess and the fox,” Welker said.
Children and adults are encouraged to attend in costume, said Welker, whose granddaughter plans to come decked out in a princess dress and crown.
Tickets are $10 per adult; children younger than 12 are admitted for free, as the concert is part of PLPA’s outreach program.
There is no limit on how many children can accompany each adult, but all children must have an adult chaperone and require a “free ticket,” said Welker.
Sponsors for the concert include Coldwell Banker Best Homes, Crossroads Music, Whistle Stop Toys and Seams To Last.
“Whistle Stop Toys and Seams To Last [are] setting up tables to sell goods especially related to fantasy and fun,” Welker said.
The performance takes place is at The Bay Club, 120 Spinnaker Place in Port Ludlow.
Doors open one hour before the concert. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Bay Club or online at portludlowperformingarts.com.
